Weeping Shoestring Tree (acacia stenophylla)

A very attractive, small to medium-sized tree to about 38 feet tall with a gnarly trunk, a well-branched, dense crown with long, thin, weeping branches and narrow, grayish green phyllodes. The small, powderpuff-like, pale yellow flowers are followed by seed pods that look like beaded strings. Acacia stenophylla is widespread in dry regions throughout much of Australia and makes a very adaptable and highly drought tolerant ornamental ideally suited to desert regions.
