True Cardamom Ginger Plant (elettaria cardamomum)

A pungent, aromatic, herbaceous, perennial plant, growing to about 6 feet tall when full sized. Emerging blooms are lilac or pale violet and pop out from a loose spike cone-shaped flower head. Green seed pods of the plant are dried and the seeds are used in Indian and other Asian cuisines, either whole or ground. It is the most widely cultivated species of cardamom to date. Ground cardamom is an ingredient in many Indian curries and is a primary contributor to the flavor of masala chai. Who wouldn't want to grow such a versatile plant?!
