Purple Leaf Shooting Star Plant (clerodendrum quadriloculare)

Blooms of delicate white flowers like stars shooting forth with a lovely pink tail pop out in mini bouquets from branch ends. Reaching a mature height of 15 feet, it is spectacular to view in mid-winter and early spring when its showy tubular flowers appear in large clusters. Hummingbirds and long-tongued butterflies frequent the narrow tubular flowers for the sweet nectar. Interesting fact: Starburst is a member of the mint family and native to New Guinea and the Philippines.
