Paper Mulberry Tree (broussonetia papyrifera)

Used for thousands of years to make paper and cloth, the young leaves are edible cooked and in the right climate it produces orange pom-pom-like fruit. Extra large leaves, soft on one side, rough on the other are heavily lobbed on the mature tree while leaves look completely different on the younger tree being palmate and indented on the margins. Native to the cooler regions of Asia it found its way to the Pacific Islands for paper and cloth.
