Nipplefruit (solanum mammosum)

Grown for ornamental purposes only, it is an annual or tender perennial plant in the nightshade family that produces an unusual waxy skinned, yellow fruit shaped like a cow’s udder. The juice of the fruit has detergent properties and is used instead of washing powder in some regions where it is naturalized. The green leaves which are poisonous, are large, velvety purple veined with fuzzy hairs on the surface and grow along self protected thorny stems.
